THE LINCOTOWER EXPERIENCE

"The course has given me a realistic, as well as helpful, orientation to online learning. I have discovered strategies, contacts, and resources that didn't exist for me just a few weeks ago."

"I greatly enjoyed taking STOL I. I got to experience what it is like to be in an entirely online class…Group work, synchronous discussions, asynchronous activities all contributed to my learning."

"I have been enlightened by what this class had to offer…Students' needs are met through student-to-student engagement and collaboration, teacher contact, and use of the 21st Century Skills."

TXVSN

Online Professional Development for Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN) Online Instructors

LincoTower Associates' Strategic Teaching for Online Learning Level I course has been approved by the TEA to provide the TXVSN-required professional development for teachers inexperienced as online instructors.

As a result of taking this course, Texas educators will be able to

  • Develop successful strategies for online teaching
  • Adapt course design to online student needs
  • Promote active online student participation and interaction

In our courses you experience the roles of online learner, collaborator, and facilitator. We emphasize a nurturing environment that takes you from where you are to where you want to be.

STOL I is a 4 1/2 week online course organized in four modules. Educators enrolled in the course need to commit 15 hours for each module and 5 hours for end-of course requirements for a total of 65 hours of engagement to complete the course.  Texas educators who successfully complete the course will earn 65 CPE units.

TEA has announced key partnerships to implement critical functions of the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN), including professional development for teaching online. Prior to teaching courses offered via the TxVSN, teachers are required to take TxVSN-approved professional development that specifically focuses on learning to teach effectively in the online environment.
Information about course offerings, professional development, and participation in the TxVSN is available online at http://www.txvsn.org.
Questions about the TxVSN should be sent to TxVSN Central Operations at TxVSNCentral@txvsn.org or call 1-866-93TxVSN (1-866-938-9876). Questions about Course Review should be sent to coursereview@esc4.net.
